31 Days to Sell Your Home: Day 12 – Carpet: You Shouldn’t Stick To It
🧼 Crunchy Carpet? That’s a Buyer Nope.
Floors carry the whole house — literally and emotionally. Buyers are looking down, and if they see grime, mystery stains, or dingy old rugs, it sticks in their mind (and shoes). Please, for the love of everything holy, vacuum the carpet, even in the corners, and mop the floors.
Baseboards Count Too
Dusty, scuffed, or yellowed baseboards make everything feel older. Grab a magic eraser and get to work.
What to Check:
- Carpets should be soft, clean, and odor-free
- Vinyl or wood should shine (not stick)
- Tile grout should not be black unless it’s supposed to be
- Floors should be free of pet hair, crumbs, or mystery goo
Easy Fixes That Impress:
- Rent a carpet cleaner or have them professionally done
- Replace just the worst room’s flooring with affordable options
- Clean, paint, or replace baseboards if they’re a mess
- Simple grout paint can cover old stains and it’s cheap and easy to use
👉 One Action to Take Today:
Walk your home barefoot. If you step on something crunchy, sticky, or furry — handle it before buyers do. Would you want to stay there? If not — fix it.
