Entertainment & The Arts
The Emmaus area is comprised of three small boroughs and two townships. The nearest large entertainment venues are in downtown Allentown or Bethlehem. Of note, there is an old movie theater in Emmaus which shows an ecclectic mix of films.
Restaurants & Bars
Despite the small town feel, this area has many restaurants and bars focused around the center of each borough. The cuisine ranges from Italian to Indian and many things in between.
Parks & Outdoors
The Emmaus area is a perfect mix of convenience and small town with lots of access to outdoor activities. The Lock Ridge Furnace Park is always a favorite for photography, especially in the Spring and the Rodale Trails are a great place to take a short hike. In the winter, don't miss Bear Creek Mountain Ski Resort and Lodge.
Museums & Amusements
There is a small museum at the Lock Ridge Furnace area, but the closest large museums are in Allentown or Bethlehem. In the summer, you will find plenty of country fairs or perhaps you'll visit the Wheels in Time car show at Macungie Memorial Park.
Local Architecture
The architecture of this area varies greatly. In the main part of each borough you will fine stately Victorians, turn of the century twins and singles, and a mix of newer buildings and homes. Further from the center of town there are many newer housing developments that have a mix of townhomes, single family dwellings, and apartments. As one moves away from the town center working farms become the norm and simgle family homes are large plots abound.
Shopping & Markets
The closest large shopping area is the Lehigh Valley Mall in Allentown, but there are many shopping centers with grocery stores and other shopping throughout. You'll never be more than 5 or 10 minutes to the nearest store. In the summer, there are several farmer's markets where you can find local produce and meats.
Public Transportation
The Lehigh Valley International Airport provides direct flights to many Eastern US locations and connections to many, many more. It's convenient to travel anywhere from this local hub and it lies in Allentown just across the border with Bethlehem. There are no passenger trains in the Lehigh Valley and bus service to these smaller boroughs is spotty with many sections having no access at all.
