Entertainment & The Arts
The Northampton area is comprised of several small towns and quite a bit of rural land. The closest large entertainment venues are in Allentown, Bethlehem, or Easton, however there are many small town things to do locally. Northampton Borough has the classic Roxy Theater which features inexpensive movies close to home.
Restaurants & Bars
There are many places to eat throughout the Northampton area and while there is a variety of cuisines, one will have to travel to one of the larger cities for the same variety. Restaurants and bars in these areas are more low key and relaxed serving good food and friendly local company.
Parks & Outdoors
The Northampton Area is fairly rural still and the Lehigh River runs along the edge of this location. There are plenty of hiking and outdoor activities throughout not to mention a golf course or two. The Appalachian Trail can be found in the Northern part of this area and there are state game lands available for hunting and fishing. Any of these areas offers a good compromise between the convenience of living in the city and the fresh air and open spaces of rural land.
Local Architecture
Local architecture varies greatly depending on the area, but within the boroughs one will find a mix of turn of the century buildings, twins, and singles. Further into the country there are many housing developments, some new and some more mature, and many working farms and large plots of land with single family homes can still be found.
Shopping & Markets
The closest shopping areas are going to be in one of the major cities, however there are some strip malls and shopping centers with necessities such as groceries and auto parts. This area is not so far from major shopping as to preclude a quick trip on the weekend, but convenient shopping is not the appeal of these locations.
Public Transportation
The Lehigh Valley International Airport provides direct flights to many Eastern US locations and connections to many, many more. It's convenient to travel anywhere from this local hub and it lies in Allentown just across the border with Bethlehem. There is some spotty bus service to the main Boroughs, but for the most part, public transportation is not easily accessible.
